Activities

The Ceramics Centre is more than just a museum. Our aim is not only to show the collection, but also to preserve old ceramic traditions and techniques.

To this end, for instance, courses, workshops and guided tours are given. Both for beginners and for advanced students there are opportunities to master the old techniques. Family celebration or a friends day out? Decorating a unique breakfast service? It’s all possible.

Regularly there are also special workshops for one day or for more days given by ceramists from home and abroad. In 2010, for instance, a five-day workshop was given by Mark Thabo, Hopi-Tewa Indian from Arizona. For five days, the students worked on the basis of old Indian potter’s techniques. The work was decorated with natural materials and fired in an open fire on the last day.

Our extensive course offerings you will find under:
Course offer adults 2012-2013
Course offer children 2012-2013

Every last Sunday of the month, potters’ demonstrations take place in the museum workshop. On the potter’s wheel, experienced potters show how lively the trade still is.
